The Black United Fund of Illinois provides direct service to non-profit organizations and projects through technical assistance and support services.  The BUFI technical assistance program empowers individuals to take control of their own lives and helps organizations become more self-sufficient.

BUFI has designed a self-help technical assistance model which advises community based organization personnel on how to provide needed services within the organization and, when appropriate, to other organizations.  This training also helps communities position themselves for various external funding.

BUFI provides technical assistance and/or support services in the following areas:

• non-profit and/or tax exempt status designation
• financial planning and development 
• project/program development
• organizational structure 
• needs assessment and strategic planning
• management and evaluation
• information referral system management
• technology planning and implementation
• public and community relationship development
• building collaborations and partnerships
• design and printing
• meeting space
• other support services
