What is Imani?

Imani, Incorporated, is a comprehensive Family Partnership Project. Since 1987, it has been providing self-help programs and services to very low, low and moderate income individuals and families to improve their quality of life through development of self-help skills.

Through an aggressive effort of securing funding on the federal, state and local levels, as well as organizational fundraising, Imani designs, develops and provides highly innovative programs for our target population.

Employment Guidance:
A service which provides employment information to interested individuals.

Referral Services:
Referrals are made to other social service organizations that provide services Imani does not.

Effective Parenting:
A special Program which teaches alternative skills to child tearing and the respect, restraint and responsibilities of parents and /or guardians.

Housewares, Appliances, Furniture:
These items are offered when available at no cost. Personal hygiene and beauty items are also offered when available at no cost.

Youth Activities:
A Summer Reading Program and Rookie Cook Classes are offered to children of low income families at no cost.

Educational Materials:
Coloring books, toys, crayons, markers, pencils, paintbrushes, puzzles, etc. are made available to parents and their children at no cost.

Emergency Food and Clothing pantry:
Food and clothing is available on an emergency referral basis. A picture I.D. and S.S. Card is required each time service is provided. Select clothing is also available for persons going on job interviews.

Homeless Transitional Shelter:
Imani Inc. is currently seeking a building to become our Homeless Transitional Shelter.
